About Me

I began collecting Philippine coins in 1969 while being stationed at Wallace AS down the hill from Baguio.  These coins were put away for nearly 30 years and I began collecting seriously in the late 90s.  Today I have the complete US/PI set in slabs, primarily from ANACS.  That said, like nearly all collectors about 15 or so coins are cleaned and marked "details".  I also collect Philippine medals and Philippine tokens.  My goal is to write a book about Philippine medals from 1650-2010, but this may have to wait until I retire in a couple of years.

My vocation is teaching.  I am a professor at Elon University in NC and this allows me to take students to Asia--primarily the Philippines--for study abroad experiences.  This allows me to buy coins both on the market and at the Central Bank.  I also retired from the AF Reserve in 1997.  My wife and I have one son and two grandchildren.
